Increasing Energy Prices and its Impact on the Hotels and Hospitality Sectors. Way out for patronisers

Way out of fuel hik

According to NBS Price survey, in the last 12 months, there has been a 181%, 87%, 103%, and 268% increase in the prices of Deisel, household Kerosene, Cooking Gas, and Aviation Fuel respectively. And businesses in the hospitality sector are taking in a lot of the heat as they have to choose between lower profits or increasing their rates (and risk reducing their volume of patronage).

The hospitality sector includes hotels, clubs and lounges, event venues, restaurants, etc and they rely heavily on generators to power their daily operations without interruptions. It is a known fact and there is no need to go into details of how destructive it could be relying on PHCN for power.

This being the case, patrons should embrace alternative ways of hospitality that have in fact been growing to become major revenue sectors over the years. These includes:

Air Bed and Breakfast (Airbnb) Services in place of hotels
Eat in or cooking at home in place of eating out
Holding your events in your premises or on an open field in place of event centres

As for the last part, it is however most important to take all health precautions into consideration, particularly renting a portable toilet so that guests do not have to enter your houses uncontrolled a d so that you would not have to battle getting rid of the after smell all week long.
